Happy Third Birthday, Enfys!

Happy Third Birthday, Enfys!

Yesterday, our beautiful Enfys celebrated her third birthday. She has had one heck of a journey to get where she-is today and I am So proud of everything that she is.

This time last year we were beginning to feel like she would never walk. She had recently been given a little freedom with the use of a walking frame.

I still remember the day Enfys started walking.
I wasn’t even looking at her until I saw that she hadn’t stood up from a crawling position. It was the 9th September. She was 25 months old. She surpassed all our expectations when she started walking.

There are things that haven’t changed for the better over the last 12 months. Her communication Skills are one. Last year she was saying “mam”. This year she doesn’t say a single word however she is more vocal than she was. In fact, Enfys’ favourite pastime is humming the tune of Twinkle Twinkle little star. Its cute to be honest.

Over the last 12 months her personality has really started to Shine through. She’s mischievous] Loving and funny. Her bond with her Siblings is second to none. She shares with Anwen and loves to clutch her. She annoys Macsen by running away with his toys. She will happily sit and brush Seren’s hair, but she looks to Garreth for rough play.

Health wise we have had a fantastic year. We had one ride in an ambulance last November When She had what seemed to be a febrile convulsion when she had a chest infection. Fair play, she was poorly with it.

In a few weeks time Enfys will be starting the next big adventure. Nursery. I’m still not 100% certain whether she will have 1 to 1 support for the start date but I’m hopeful that the LEA will pull their socks up.

Well, the last three years have been an adventure with our Rainbow, I’m pretty certain the next year will be too.

Anwen is 11 months

Anwen is 11 months

Oh, Anwen, yesterday you reached the ripe old age of 11 months.  It’s crazy just how quickly you seem to be growing up.  In less than 1 month we’ll be celebrating your 1st birthday.  I have some great things planned.

Although, here we are… at 11 months, shall we see how you are doing?

Growth

Weight:  I honestly don’t have a clue how much you weigh.  You appear to be getting longer and slimmer but still have lush knee dimples.
Clothing Size:  You’re in 12-18 months now for all, except for vests which are 18-24 months.
Shoe Size: Still no shoes, but I think you have big wide feet.
Nappy Size: Still a size 5, although I think I’m going to have to move up to 5+ very soon.
Teeth: You have some molars and all the front ones.  This month we haven’t really noticed any teething troubles but your chest seems to be playing up again so I’m expecting some new teeth very soon.

Favourite Things

Music:  You still adore music.  If I even start to sing you start bobbing around, waving your arms and clapping your hands… all with a massive grin on your face.  You know all of the actions to ‘Wheels on the Bus’ and love to copy.
Attention: Anwen, you love being centre of attention.  I think it’s because you’ve always got someone to play with.  You have now realised that you can demand attention by shouting or just jumping on the person.
Food: You are still loving your food.  It’s fantastic to see the variety of food you will eat, everything is worth trying at least once.
Your siblings: Your bond with your siblings has grown even more over the last month and you love to play with them.  Macsen is who you turn to for a bit of rough tumble play… you try to get Enfys to play rough and tumble but often come up empty handed.
Playing: Your play skills have developed hugely this month and you have developed a love for playing with cars and reading books.

Dislikes

Silence:  There is still nothing worse than silence to you, well apart from being hungry.
Hunger:  It it’s time for lunch or dinner, you will let me know.  You rarely let me serve a meal late.  It’s like your stomach is a clockwork one.
Being left alone in a room: You still hate being left alone in a room.  In fact, I think it might actually be worse again this month compared with last month.

Sleeping

Bedtime:  Asleep between 6.30 & 7pm
Wake Time: 6am-7am… rarely outside of these times but it does happen.
Naps:  1x 2 hour nap after lunch.

Feeding

Bottles: We are down to 2 8oz bottles a day, 1 in the morning and 1 before bed.
Food: You eat everything we eat.  You love your food.  I have yet to find something you don’t like.

Exciting things this month

Waving and saying “Hiya”: Yes, this skill is back.  I don’t know where it disappeared but it’s back and it’s fab.
Standing up: You figured out how to pull yourself up this month and how to sit back down again.

Anwen is 10 months

Anwen is 10 months

It’s hard to believe that in 2 months my last baby will be celebrating her first birthday.  Today, Anwen is 10 months old and has changed so much in the last month.  Her personality is truly shining through and she loves being surrounded by people.  There’s also quite the bond growing between Enfys and Anwen which is just beautiful to watch.

Things are changing daily so let’s have a look where we are today.

Growth

Weight:  No idea, she gets weighed but I try to forget once the Health Visitor leaves.  Only because, I know she’s overweight and I’m waiting out to see if, like Seren and Macsen, she slims down.
Clothing Size:  I said last month that we were only just in 9-12 month clothes… well we’re still wearing 9-12 month babygrows and some 6-9 month clothes. 12-18 months are far more comfortable so I do prefer to dress her in those.  Her vests are still 18-24 months.
Shoe Size: Still no shoes, but I think she has big wide feet.
Nappy Size: Still a size 5.
Teeth: She’s doing well with her teeth.  This month some of her pre-molars have cut through.

Favourite Things

Music:  Anwen still does love music.  She started dancing this month too.  As well as trying to join in the actions on songs like ‘The Wheels on the Bus’ and ‘Wind the bobbin up’.
Attention: I suppose this comes down to having so many around us.  Anwen adores being the centre of our world and is ecstatic when you say “hiya” to her.
Food: Yes, Anwen does indeed love food.  She will eat it until the cows come home and will eat pretty much anything I put in front of her… she is definitely another Seren and Macsen.
Her siblings: Over the last month I have watched a bond grow between Enfys and Anwen.  Enfys loves to just sit next to Anwen to play and doesn’t complain if she is a bit of a pain.  Anwen just radiates love when she sees any one of her siblings and can’t wait for them to talk to her.

Dislikes

Silence:  There is still nothing worse than silence to Anwen, well apart from being hungry.
Hunger:  It it’s time for lunch or dinner, Anwen will let me know.  She rarely lets me serve a meal late.  It’s like her stomach is a clockwork one.
Being left alone in a room: Anwen still hates being left alone in a room.  In fact, I think it might actually be worse this month.

Sleeping

Bedtime:  Asleep between 7 & 7.30pm
Wake Time: 6am-7am… rarely outside of these times but it does happen.
Naps:  2x 20 minute naps during the day

Food:  Anwen eats everything we eat.  She loves food.  I have yet to find something she doesn’t like.

Exciting things this month

Crawling:  She started crawling last week.  She’s still a bit slow but practice makes perfect.

Macsen is 4!!!

Macsen is 4!!!

Oh Macsen, how are we here again?  Celebrating another birthday for today you are four.

For weeks, we have been discussing your birthday.  I haven’t had the heart to tell you that you have to go to school.  You have told me at least 20 times a day that “It my guffgay boom” and when asked how old you will be, you reply with “hore”.

It’s your fourth birthday, the first one you have gotten really excited about.  The first one you have been able to tell me what you want.  You want to “hee all amuls, elfun, heeyaf and hee” which can be translated as “see all animals, elephant, giraffe and sheep”.

Not only is it your birthday today but today we mark 1 year of Speech Therapy.  You have made slow progress, but the important thing is that your speech has improved.  We are able to hold conversations, we can talk to each other.  I am able to understand 90% of what you try to tell me.  If I don’t understand, I can tell you.  I usually ask you to show me if you can’t tell me.  9 times out of 10 this approach works.  I’m your Mummy, Macsen, I will always try my best to listen to what you say.  That’s not to say that sometimes I feel like I am learning another language.  I may not be able to speak Welsh but I can certainly speak Macsen.

This last year has been a difficult one.  Anwen arrived and you were besotted from the get go.  Your ‘Nanan’ can’t do anything wrong in your eyes.  Enfys has become rather an inconvenience to you because she tries to interrupt your games.

You started Meithrin last April.  It’s been a bumpy ride.  I’ve struggled with you being in Meithrin because at the end of the day I’m the person who knows you best.  The teachers are beginning to understand what makes you tick and what triggers you.  You struggle with large groups of your peers, more than likely because of your communication difficulties.  Left to your own devices or being able to spend time with people you know will listen to you makes.a big difference.

Last week, you got to play in the snow for the first time.  The Beast from the East and Storm Emma meant that you could have your wish to play in the snow.  We couldn’t build a snowman because the snow wouldn’t stick together well enough.  You had great fun in the snow.

Today, you are in Meithrin.  You’ve got a long day because you also have Cylch this afternoon. But when you get home we’ll have.a yummy dinner and you get to eat cake!

Macsen, whatever happens in the next 12 months, Mamnee has your back.  I love you with all of my heart and I will do whatever it takes to help you through your challenges.

My lovely big boy, all that’s left to say is, HAPPY FOURTH BIRTHDAY!!

Lots of Love

Your Mamnee.  xxxx

Happy 3rd birthday, Seren!

Happy 3rd birthday, Seren!

Princess Pants, for you, on your third birthday.

I can hardly believe that it’s been three years since we met you; since we saw your little face.  It’s been 3 years since we became a family of four.  It’s your third birthday.
In three years you have grown so much, you have become a happy and confident little girl.  You love to sing, love to dance and love to cwtch.

It amazes me when you look at your big brother with so much love, you light up our lives.  He loves you so much too… You get on so well, not all the time, but he always finds time to play your games.

Recently, you have come to love Peppa Pig.  We celebrated your birthday with a Peppa Pig party yesterday.  We had Peppa Pig balloons, Peppa Pig banners, Peppa Pig plates and cups, and perhaps most importantly, your Peppa Pig birthday cake; the cake that you asked me to make.  You had a lovely time, and played your way through the day and even joined in when we sang Happy Birthday to you.

Today, we opened presents, visited your Nanny’s and Pappy’s… and celebrated again.  Now, Mammy feels so tired and emotional.  It’s a very good tired and emotional.  As much as I’m sad the baby years and toddlerhood is in the past, I love the little girl you are becoming.

Now, all that’s left to do is prepare you for the next big step in your life.  Starting Meithrin.  In 11 days, you will be going for your first taster session.  I expect it to be an emotional experience, for both of us.  I’m sure you will settle in just fine.

Happy Birthday Princess.  We love you so much!

Mammy xxxx

Happy 3rd birthday Seren!
