It’s another new month and I thought I would start a new reflection time on my blog. This post will usually be the last day of the month but for April it was taken up by a review of Then She Ran by Charlie Gallagher.
My new monthly reflection series is going to focus on 5 words that sum up my month. From the highs to the lows. Just 5 words with an explanation of why they have found a place in my monthly reflection.
So without further delay, here are April’s Reflections.
The 19th April marked a year since my Nan passed away. To be honest it’s been a really quick year, but then I have had plenty to keep me busy over the last 12 months.
This April though, two other beautiful angels joined my Nan. The grief seems somewhat greater though because they were both just children. Jessica and Brand were just 6 and 12. I didn’t know either child personally but I had followed their journeys, Jessica was a true heart warrior while Brand had battled cancer.
I think April and the first anniversary of Nan’s passing was liberating in a way. It was the last first, it allowed me to make peace with the situation, and it just seemed to click back into place.
April’s second word… only overshadowed by grief is growth. It represents how I feel about myself… personal emotional growth.
Easter break fell in April and me and the children just spent the time relaxing and having duvet days. We also spent Easter with my family.
Yes, April was spent reconnecting with my children and enjoying their company.
I think this has been summed up in family above. However, there’s been so many displays of love throughout April. From the collection for Jessica from the whole blogging community, to the collection for Brand and the AMAZING turnout at his funeral.
The first hints of summer showed themselves in April. I’m looking forward to this summer because both Anwen and Enfys will be that much older and we’ll hopefully be able to do more things.
However, here we are in May and guess what… snow is forecast in some parts of Wales this week… Really??????? Perhaps we have already had our summer then.
Do you have 5 words that sum up your April? Let me know in the comments below.
