During our holiday we wanted to make the most of our time away and we decided that a day out at the Weymouth Sea Life Adventure Park was the thing to do. It was going to be a very expensive day out. We managed to get some Buy 1 Get 1 free vouchers from the Dairy Milk share bags. It meant that we saved £47.50 which was half the cost.
We visited the Sea Life park way back in 2011 while on holiday then. This time around we had far better weather than the last visit. There were also 3 extra children.
As we arrived they took a picture of us. (Then tried to charge us an extortionate amount of money for it but more about that later) before sending us on our way.
I remember last time we didn’t take the ‘planned route’ and ended up going in the opposite direction to everyone else. This time we did it ‘properly’ and it actually worked better for us (and no doubt everyone else given that we had the tank of a Bugaboo Donkey).
It was a great day out and even the Tazmanian Devil that is Macsen was pretty calm. He enjoyed watching the sea life going about their business under the water. It was actually a great experience with him.
Enfys was also in awe. She particularly enjoy the Ocean Tunnel and adored the turtles swimming overhead. My personal favourite were the Stingrays. I love their faces.
I think the highlight of the day had to be the Splash Zone. Garreth hated it (but then again water and laptops don’t really mix). Seren and Macsen played for hours while Enfys enjoyed walking around and playing in the sprinklers. She soon got tired and fell asleep for a couple of hours.
Now, for the dampener of the day. While we were on our way out the staff at the photograph stand grabbed us (not physically) to take a look at the photograph they took of us on the way in. I was not impressed with it to be honest. Admittedly, it’s pretty difficult photographing a family of 7 with two in a pram but the photograph was less than good. Next came the hard sell despite being told ‘no’. They even took it upon themselves to tell us about all the ‘offers’ they have for multiple photographs. We had 1 photograph taken and we didn’t like it. Why on earth would I want multiple copies of a photo I didn’t like?
I naturally walked away without buying the photograph but the hard sell left me uncomfortable and disappointed. Although, it didn’t detract from the rest of the day.
Overall, we had a great time at Weymouth Sea Life Adventure Park and we did make some amazing family memories.
