Our holiday passed in the blink of an eye and we’re back to the daily grind with the children back at school too. It makes me sad. I can’t quite believe how quickly it all passed. We had a lovely week away in Weymouth and made some beautiful family memories.
Day One – A visit to Monkey World
We traveled down to Weymouth on the Saturday morning to spend the day at Monkey World. I’ve followed Monkey World for at least 20 years. I have been there more times than I can count with my fingers and know it like the back of my hand. The changes between each visit never fail to surprise me. However, this was our first visit for 6 years.
Monkey World can be an expensive day out but the opportunity to see all the primates is worth every penny. There’s so much for the kids to do and it really does take the whole day to go around the park.
The children thoroughly enjoyed the day. Pappy (my Dad) carried Enfys around for much of the day so she could see the enclosures properly and join in with us. She didn’t really get it until we were able to see the chimpanzees through the glass. It suddenly became more real for her and she must have stood at the window for 20 minutes just watching them. A highlight for me was watching her blow kisses through the glass to them. It was lovely to see her so taken with something.
For Garreth, I think it was more about helping the younger ones enjoy the day. I think that’s the role of the biggest brother. He enjoyed himself but enjoyed watching Seren, Macsen and Enfys more. Seren, our little wannabe Farmer’s Wife, would have been in the enclosures given half the chance. Macsen was his usual enthusiastic self, until he realised he was tired, then his wrath was unleashed.
Here are a few highlights of our day at Monkey World:
