We enjoy a kebab once in a blue moon, despite the fact that, in reality they aren’t really all that great for you… but when trawling through one of the slow cooking pages on Facebook, I came across this recipe. For a homemade kebab – The Fakeaway Kebab!
Naturally, I have edited the recipe a little to suit us but it is most definitely a hit… and even the children love it!
What you need (although these are all rough estimates):
- 800g Lean Lamb Mince
- 5tsp Mixed Herbs
- 5tsp Garlic Powder
- ¼ tsp Cayenne Pepper
- 1tsp Salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
What you need to do:
- Mix together all the ingredients thoroughly. You want to avoid leaving air pockets so don’t be afraid to take your anger out on it.
- Once this is done, mould into a meatloaf shape.
- Pop straight into your slow cooker for 3-4 hours on high or 5-7 hours on low.
- Serve with pitta bread, salad and sauces of your choice… you can even include chips.
ATTENTION: The first time you cook this, make sure to keep an eye on the timings as all slow cookers differ. I’ve yet to make it in my new slow cooker, but my old one would be 3 hours on high, followed by 2 on low.
Enjoy your fakeaway… and don’t forget to pop back to let me know how yours turned out!
